Here is some additional information regarding the training topics: CFI Jeff Pauley, Chairman of the IAAI Safety Committee, will discuss fire investigator health and safety best practices. Educating fire investigators on health and safety protocols after a fire is important to ensuring fewer incidences of chronic and life-threatening health conditions and illnesses caused by exposure.

Electrical Engineer Chris Graham of Center Engineering, will provide hands-on training in the area of electrical fires. The specific topics covered will include solar systems, bathroom fans, and dryers. Maryland Deputy Fire Marshal Dexter Hodges will discuss a long-term federal arson investigation in the City of Baltimore. The investigation resulted in the conviction of three individuals, two of which were involved in a complex arson-for-profit scheme and a conspiracy to murder a witness and other offenses.

Wayne Miller, a retired ATF Special Agent/CFI will discuss an extensive arson investigation which is the subject of his new book, Burn Boston Burn-The Largest Arson Case in the History of the Country. The investigation involved a conspiracy of 9 men, including 3 Boston police officers and a Boston firefighter, who burned structures in Boston and surrounding communities in the early 1980s due to tax-cutting measures that caused layoffs of hundreds of police and firefighters. Over 2 years, these individuals, turned arsonists, torched 264 buildings, causing millions of dollars in damages and hundreds of injuries.

See you in Ocean City!
