Today, I had the pleasure of meeting with the International Association of Fire Fighters General Secretary-Treasurer/Boston Firefighter Edward "Edzo" Kelly, who called me to express interest in my book. I met him later today to hand-deliver more than a handful of books. He's a really nice guy; we had a good talk. He bleeds for firefighters.
Among several functions, the IAFF Foundation supports the
Burn Fund
From tragedy to recovery, the IAFF Foundation Burn Fund upholds the long-standing tradition of supporting IAFF members, their families and their communities affected by burn trauma.
This Burn Fund will be another target charity for proceeds from Burn Boston Burn. Already contributions have gone to the CT Burn Foundation Arthur C. Luf Summer Burn Camp for Children and to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Eventually, when profits are made on the book, 50% of profits will go toward fire-related charitable organizations.
In short order, Eddie relayed information about my book and me to his associates who then invited me to speak before the NEAFF next June at Foxwoods.
Then, I was invited to speak at the Mansfield (MA) library in the New Year.
With another good day of sales on Amazon on top of the aforementioned, I consider this very rainy day a very good day.
Heading to Martha's Vineyard tomorrow to speak before Pathways ARTS.
Thanks to all of you who have expressed interest in Burn Boston Burn. You have all helped to make my year a success.
